About the Role

As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our school during teacher absences. You will collaborate closely with senior leaders to manage daily cover needs, effectively communicate with staff, and provide engaging learning experiences for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively plan cover arrangements for various durations, considering staff absence schedules and school events.
  • Communicate daily cover plans to all staff members, making necessary adjustments throughout the day.
  • Supervise entire classes during short-term teacher absences, maintaining a positive learning environment and keeping students focused on their work.
  • Provide specialized support to the curriculum by assisting teaching staff and students when cover is not required.
  • Offer dedicated support to students with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, complete electronic registers, and handle immediate problems or emergencies in accordance with school policies.
  • Collect completed student work, provide appropriate rewards, and report any behavioral concerns following established procedures.
  • Establish positive working relationships with students, acting as a role model and setting high expectations for their academic and personal growth.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Recent experience in a school setting as a classroom teacher or cover supervisor.
  • Proficiency in using Management Information Systems (MIS) for cover planning and pastoral support, particularly at Key Stages 3 or 4.
  • Relevant first aid knowledge, a degree-level education, and an understanding of the National Curriculum.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to adhere to school procedures and policies.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A genuine commitment to meeting the needs of all students.
  • Good ICT skills and adaptability.
  • Emotional resilience in working with challenging behavior.
