Job Title: Junior Estimator

Location: Manchester, Denton

Salary: £28,000 to £30,000 per annum

Acorn by Synergie is partnering with a leading client to recruit a Junior Estimator. Our client is a renowned industry leader, specializing in joinery, plastics, and polystyrene projects. They are known for delivering high-quality results and are seeking an ambitious Junior Estimator to join their innovative, creative, and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in Preparing Estimates: Support the preparation of cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, and equipment, under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Review Project Specifications: Help review project specifications and drawings to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates are prepared.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and constraints.
  • Support Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination: Assist in obtaining and reviewing quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Contribute to Bid Proposals: Help prepare bid proposals and presentations tailored to clients' needs.
  • Monitor and Update Estimates: Track and update estimates as project details evolve, ensuring accuracy and adherence to budgets and timelines.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Assist in maintaining thorough and accurate records of all estimates and related documentation.
Requirements:
  • Interest in Estimating: Some experience or a strong interest in estimating, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Buying / Sourcing Experience: Basic understanding or experience in buying or sourcing is a plus, ideally with exposure to international suppliers.
  • Willingness to Learn: A curious mindset with the ability to ask questions and learn from experienced colleagues.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with estimating software and the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) is advantageous.
  • Good Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
  • Attention to Detail: An eye for detail, with the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to Manage Deadlines: Capable of managing time effectively and working under pressure to meet deadlines.
