About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiology Nurse Specialist to join our Transformation Unit team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist medical staff with diagnostic and interventional procedures, including angiograms, PCI, pacing, and EP studies.
  • Provide patient-centered care and maintain a highly professional standard of nursing, meeting the needs of patients during cath lab procedures.
  • Act as a professional role model and provide an effective, safe environment to care for individual patients and promote a positive experience for patients, relatives, and carers.
  • Participate in the control, storage, and competent administration of drugs and treatments as prescribed according to NMC guidelines and Trust policies.
  • Demonstrate skills in the care and management of critically ill patients, including CVP lines and IV therapy administration.
  • Maintain accurate documentation to facilitate the continuity of care for patients transferred to other areas.
  • Ensure practice is evidence-based and in line with local policies and procedures.
  • Provide competent nursing skills in airway management and observations of vital signs for conscious and unconscious patients under general anesthesia and sedation.
  • Able to confidently and competently provide nursing skills in transoesophageal echocardiogram procedures and ensure best practice is maintained.
  • Able to confidently and competently scrub in all diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures.
  • Participate effectively and safely in the events of cardiac arrest.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of non-invasive cardiac monitoring and provide appropriate care for patients.
  • Able to safely administer medicines, monitor their clinical effectiveness, and provide appropriate actions when required.
  • Act as a Runner Nurse in all diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures.

  • NMC Registered
  • Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues
  • Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role)
