About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Arboricultural Consultant to join our team at FPCR Environment and Design Limited. As a key member of our arboricultural department, you will play a vital role in providing technical advice to clients on a range of development projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct tree surveys for development applications and construction projects, adhering to BS 5837:2012 guidelines.
  • Assist with tree health surveys, hazard assessments, visual tree inspections, and risk assessment surveys.
  • Prepare Tree Survey Plans and Tree Protection Plans.
  • Support the creation of Arboricultural Impact Assessments and Arboricultural Method Statements.
  • Collate information to provide advice on arboricultural issues for clients.
  • Supervise on-site construction activities where retained trees are being protected.
Requirements
  • A passion for trees and ideally experience in a related environmental field, such as tree surgery, ecology, or conservation.
  • A Level 2 or higher qualification in arboriculture or a related discipline.
  • Excellent tree identification skills.
  • Good written English skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and within an office environment.
  • Professional attitude, with strong time management and self-discipline skills.
  • Passion for arboriculture and sustainable environmental design.
  • Computer literacy, with experience of MS Word and Excel.
  • A current UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Membership of a relevant professional association, such as the Arboricultural Association or Royal Forestry Society.
  • Knowledge of GIS/AutoCAD systems, with a willingness to learn.
  • Experience of technical report writing, including Arboricultural Impact Assessments and Arboricultural Method Statements.
  • Experience of tree hazard surveys and surveys in accordance with BS5837:2012.
  • A working knowledge of practical tree management and working practices.
What We Offer

We provide a competitive salary of £21,000 - £24,000, dependent on experience, with opportunities for annual bonuses, pension scheme enrollment, 25 days holiday, and a compressed working week. We also offer continued professional development, including support for working towards professional qualifications in arboriculture.
