We are seeking a skilled and motivated Operative to join our Signalling Maintenance team at Network Rail. As an Operative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rail network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work outdoors in all conditions, including extreme weather, to maintain and repair signalling equipment.
  • Collaborate with a small team to deliver safe and efficient work delivery, adhering to strict safety protocols and procedures.

  • Plan and prepare for tasks, anticipating the needs of the team and ensuring timely completion of work.
  • Work under pressure, remaining calm and focused in demanding situations.
  • Follow rules and instructions, challenging situations that may compromise safety.
  • Develop skills and competencies relevant to the discipline, staying up-to-date with new standards, procedures, and instructions.
Requirements
  • Team-working: ability to work closely with the team to deliver safe and efficient work delivery.
  • Communication: good communication skills to work safely and effectively.
  • Proactive planning: punctual, having the van and equipment ready, and anticipating the needs of the team.
  • Working under pressure: ability to remain calm under pressure, working outdoors in all conditions.
  • Following rules and instructions: understanding and respect for rules, with confidence to challenge if a situation is unsafe.
  • Willingness to learn: consistently developing skills and competencies relevant to the discipline.
What You'll Need
  • Shifts: flexible shift pattern, including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Outdoor working: comfortable working in different conditions.
  • Safe working: passing of relevant medical assessment and BPSS pre-employment checks.
  • Driving: valid driving licence (category B) for Network Rail vehicles.
  • Commute times: within a 60-minute commute of the location.
