Position Overview

We are looking for skilled and dedicated Electrical Systems Technicians to become part of our innovative team, which is currently engaged in the installation, upkeep, and support services for Low Voltage/High Voltage (LV/HV) systems.

Role Context

As a member of our proficient Engineering division, you will contribute to various aspects of LV/HV services for our clientele. Your role will involve both supporting fellow team members in delivering HV engineering projects and taking the lead on specific assignments as necessary. We emphasize teamwork, fostering the enhancement of our technical expertise, knowledge, and skills while promoting a balanced work-life environment.

Job Scope

Your responsibilities will include collaborating with a team of experienced Engineers, Safety Assurance Professionals, and support personnel across the LV/HV sector. This position is primarily remote, with travel to various sites as part of your daily responsibilities. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 16:00, with flexibility required based on operational demands. Weekend work may be necessary to meet client needs, and opportunities for additional hours during evenings, weekends, and international travel are often available.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will encompass:

  • Leading the execution of diverse projects, including construction, maintenance, repairs, and product support for LV/HV assets.
  • Issuing, monitoring, and managing safety documentation in accordance with relevant safety regulations.
  • Installing, refurbishing, and maintaining LV/HV equipment.
  • Interpreting electrical schematics and documentation.
  • Conducting electrical testing and troubleshooting.
  • Performing mechanical modifications and repairs.
  • Completing assessments and documentation reports.
  • Coordinating site activities with engineers, subcontractors, and utility companies.
  • Assisting in job costing, material specifications, and logistics management.
  • Planning outages and producing safety documentation for HV/LV operations.
  • Evaluating safety measures and implementing necessary controls.
  • Preparing risk assessments, job packs, test certificates, and reports.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment during high and low voltage operations.
  • Adhering to the standards, policies, and procedures of Lucy Electric and its clients.
  • Maintaining all necessary authorizations in line with safety protocols and industry best practices.
  • Collaborating closely with the team to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Participating in training and development opportunities as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in electrical commissioning.
  • Background in maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with PASMA, IPAF, and SMSTS certifications.
  • Knowledge of HV switching and LV/HV cable terminations.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Essential Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in the Electrical and/or Mechanical sectors.
  • Certification in electrical safety and a proven ability to deliver effective services to clients, whether on-site or from an office setting.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and their practical applications.
  • Familiarity with distribution safety protocols and their implementation.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly MS Office.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous authorizations with Private Networks, UKPN, WPD, or other Distribution Network Operators.
  • Training in first aid, IPAF, PASMA, and SMSTS.
  • 18th Edition and 2391 inspection and testing qualifications.
  • Experience mentoring trainees.
  • Willingness to respond to call-outs.
  • AP Authorisation with SSEN, UKPN, or Private Networks.
  • Technical qualifications such as BTEC, C&G, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
