Job Title: Control Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our team at Rolls-Royce Submarines. As a key member of our Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Sub-System team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design of reactor control systems, from top-level plant requirements to control function analysis and system verification.

Our team is responsible for the design and development of control systems for the Royal Navy's nuclear submarine fleet. We are looking for a candidate who has the confidence and ability to work as part of a team and take the lead on technical projects.

The successful candidate will have a degree in an electrical or electronics engineering discipline and be a member of a related professional engineering institution. They will also have experience in architecture design and V&V, including requirements capture/analysis methods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing and updating requirements, including traceability, through the product maturity gates
  • Specifying product-level requirements and working with suppliers to ensure these have been met
  • Verifying the final product against the design requirements
  • Creating architecture-level models to analyze electrical systems
  • Reviewing and approving design intent documentation
  • Supporting shipbuilder/vendor build and commissioning issue resolution/documentation
Requirements:
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an electrical or electronics engineering discipline
  • Member or a related professional engineering institution (e.g. The IET)
  • Experience in architecture design and V&V, including requirements capture/analysis methods
  • Background in electronics to enable an intelligent customer relationship
  • Proactive and self-starting individual who can work with various disciplines across different engineering functions
