As a Second Chef at Runwood Homes, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality food preparation and presentation to our residents. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all stages of food preparation meet the highest standards for resident well-being.
  • Preparing and serving meals in accordance with the menu and company requirements.
  • Maintaining compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Ensuring the quality of meals in terms of presentation and taste.
  • Managing portion control to minimize waste.
  • Meeting individual dietary requirements by following quantity charts and recipes or adapting dishes as needed.
  • Maintaining a safe, healthy, and efficient working environment.
  • Storing food and other items correctly.
  • Monitoring stock and maintaining effective stock rotation.
  • Deputizing for the Head Chef as required.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant experience in a catering environment.
  • NVQ 2 or City & Guilds equivalent.
  • Food Hygiene level 2.
  • Team player with a genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Satisfactory police check and check against the ISA list (where applicable).
  • Basic understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
