About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Criminology Graduate to join our team as a Behaviour Support Assistant at a Specialist Provision in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain valuable experience in a challenging yet rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN) and associated social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH) and challenges
  • Identify risks and needs, escalating where necessary, to ensure the well-being and safety of students
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and specialist staff to develop and implement strategies to support students' behaviour and emotional well-being
  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students, helping them to manage their behaviour and develop positive coping strategies
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of behaviour management plans, ensuring consistency and equity in the application of strategies
Requirements
  • Recent Criminology Graduate with a passion for working with vulnerable youth
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meet the needs of students and the school
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques, with a commitment to ongoing professional development
