Job Opportunity: Factory Services Operator

We are seeking a skilled Factory Services Operator to join our Engineering team at Cepac Rotherham.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Starch Kitchen, Boiler, Water Treatment Plant, Automatic Wastepaper Baler, and Air Compressors.

The main duties of this role include:

  • Monitoring and maintaining the mixing plant in the starch kitchen, including topping up the system with Borax as required.
  • Ensuring the continuous operation of the two boilers, adjusting water quality parameters as needed.
  • Assisting with boiler strip-down and rebuild for inspections.
  • Monitoring and controlling water levels in sumps, processing, and discharging wastewater, maintaining required parameters.
  • Transferring bales of waste using a forklift truck onto an articulated lorry trailer for removal by a contractor.
  • Fitting coils of bailing wire to the wire dispensing spigots on the baling machine.
  • Monitoring and maintaining equipment, fault-finding, and rectifying issues.
  • Monitoring the operation of the compressors.
  • Performing general housekeeping of work areas, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Monitoring starch silo, fuel oil, caustic soda, and other chemicals, reporting defects and spillages.
  • Supervising the offloading of starch from delivery tankers into the silo.
  • Working a regular rotating shift pattern over 3 weeks, including nights, afternoons, and days.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working in a services environment.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
  • Safety consciousness.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Proficiency using hand tools.
