Job Duties:
  • Provide support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in classroom settings, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement individual education plans for students with SEN, ensuring tailored support and progress.
  • Assist in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students, fostering a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Support students with personal care and mobility needs, if required, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals, such as educational psychologists and speech therapists, to provide comprehensive support.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths, demonstrating a strong foundation in core subjects.
  • Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, showcasing expertise in supporting students with SEN.
  • Knowledge of SEN and experience working with children with additional needs, highlighting a deep understanding of the subject area.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for building strong relationships with students, teachers, and other professionals.
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a school setting, demonstrating a track record of success in supporting students with SEN.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt to different situations, showcasing flexibility and resilience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • SEN-specific qualifications such as SEN Diploma, demonstrating a higher level of expertise in supporting students with SEN.
  • First Aid certification, highlighting a commitment to student safety and well-being.
  • Experience using assistive technology for students with SEN, showcasing a willingness to adapt and innovate.
Working Conditions:
  • Working hours typically follow school hours, ensuring a regular and predictable schedule.
  • May require some physical exertion when assisting students with mobility needs, highlighting a willingness to support students with diverse needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
