Role Overview

The Quality Engineering Manager will possess a comprehensive understanding of testing methodologies and the challenges faced in various projects. Familiarity with a diverse array of functional and non-functional testing techniques is essential. The ideal candidate will stay updated on the latest industry trends, methodologies, and tools related to testing, applying this knowledge effectively within project contexts.

This role entails overall responsibility for managing the testing phase of projects. The Quality Engineering Manager will lead the testing stage, which includes defining the Test Strategy and Test Planning, ensuring completion within established timelines and budgets, while achieving a quality level that meets or surpasses client expectations.

Innovative thinking regarding testing methodologies and necessary adjustments to testing approaches will be crucial for continuous improvement. The Quality Engineering Manager will leverage advanced knowledge of IT solution architecture and key components (including GUI, operating systems, databases, hardware, networks, and security) to inform testing strategies and guide the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define the High-Level Test Approach for programs/projects, advising on necessary test phases.
  • Maintain and update Test Strategy documentation.
  • Provide insights to project management regarding testing project requirements.
  • Offer accurate estimates for the time needed to complete testing activities.
  • Identify, document, and manage significant project risks and issues related to testing.
  • Develop and maintain Test Plan documentation.
  • Oversee test progress, including task assignment, monitoring, and feedback provision.
  • Collect and report metrics, progress, and statistics related to testing activities.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders involved in testing.
  • Manage defect processes, including triaging, analysis, and reporting.
  • Oversee the creation of test data and manipulate relational database data for automated testing as needed.
  • Drive the development and maintenance of automation frameworks and scripts.
  • Seek opportunities for process improvements in testing.
  • Advocate for testing and quality throughout the project lifecycle, emphasizing defect prevention.
  • Oversee non-functional testing, including performance testing, as required.
  • Provide management, direction, and mentoring to the testing team.
  • Support individual career aspirations through coaching and mentoring.
  • Champion knowledge sharing and collaboration within the organization and externally.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular updates.
  • Identify new opportunities and improvements within existing client engagements.

Qualifications

Passionate

  • Proven experience in a senior testing role, leading teams across multiple projects.
  • Ability to manage and influence key stakeholders and third parties.

Excellence

  • Experience across various testing phases, including UAT, OAT, and live proving.
  • Extensive background in implementing waterfall, agile, and hybrid testing approaches.
  • Strong understanding of test engineering benefits and familiarity with various automation and performance toolsets.
  • Knowledge of service-oriented architecture and experience managing API interactions using automated testing tools.

Commitment

  • Understanding of the diverse needs of senior business stakeholders and technical personnel.
  • Experience implementing and configuring leading testing tools effectively.
