The Role: Day Shift Van ManagerAs a Day Shift Van Manager, you'll play a crucial role in overseeing the smooth operation of our parcel shop. You'll be responsible for managing all aspects of day-time parcel shop operations, including sortation and transportation, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Your Responsibilities:- Operational Excellence: Manage all areas of the day parcel shop operations, focusing on efficiency and cost-effectiveness in sortation and transportation processes.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, induct, engage, and manage a team of Warehouse drivers. Provide ongoing performance and attendance management, conduct daily debriefs with drivers, and submit weekly reports.
- Compliance Champion: Ensure strict adherence to all relevant regulations and legal requirements, particularly concerning domestic driving hours (breaks, shift lengths, rest periods). Provide support on driver compliance across the depot.
- Resource Optimization: Plan local routes effectively to ensure timely and efficient delivery of parcels. Optimize roster utilization for maximum productivity.
- Cost Management: Manage budgets to achieve agreed service levels, including monitoring productivity, labor costs, overtime usage, and agency resource allocation.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with planning teams, Central Van Manager, and Depot General Manager (DGM) on strategic planning and preparation for peak periods.
- In-depth knowledge of transport regulations, skills, and experience.
- Strong operational understanding of end-to-end processes within the delivery sector.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- CPC National Certificate is highly desirable.
- Full driving license is essential.
- IOSH Qualification preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Demonstrate the ability to analyze cost controls, data reports, MI, and KPI metrics.
- Proven experience in managing and leading a team effectively.
