Exciting Graduate Insurance Underwriter Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and driven graduate to join our team as an Underwriting Assistant in our Leeds office. As a Graduate Insurance Underwriter, you will play a key role in assisting with the daily underwriting and processing of commercial and residential risks, ensuring that new business is secured and learning about the various risks and underwriting them effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the daily underwriting and processing of commercial and residential risks.
  • Review and summarise files gathering information on cases.
  • Undertake legal research and projects.
  • Proactively develop industry knowledge.
  • Ensure a high level of accuracy in policy wording.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and confidently discuss policy with them.
  • Work with integrity, company values, and regulatory standards.
  • Travel, including to other sites within the company group, is required.
Requirements:
  • A 2.1 university degree, preferably in STEM, Law, Economics, Geography, etc.
  • Ideally some work experience, or internship, in a commercial environment.
  • Advanced in using Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Confident in building client relationships and communicating with executives.
  • Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates a 'can do' attitude and a proactive approach to learning and development.
  • A positive, collaborative, and flexible team player
