Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated 3D Arts and Sculpture Specialist to deliver expert technical support, guidance, and administration within the operational framework of our workshop. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in metalworking techniques and a diverse skill set that includes woodworking, mold creation, casting, plastics, ceramics, and digital fabrication.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the workshop operates efficiently and effectively, adhering to all relevant regulations, health and safety standards, and institutional policies.
Additionally, this role involves:
- Facilitating student learning through both informal and formal training sessions, helping students to gain proficiency in essential tools and techniques.
- Collaborating closely with the workshop team and other technical staff to maintain a harmonious and productive working environment.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will hold a degree or equivalent qualification, ideally with a focus on art, design, or fabrication, and have substantial experience in a dynamic technical workshop setting. They should be adept at planning and conducting workshops while supervising students of varying skill levels.
Essential skills include:
- Proficiency in general workshop practices across multiple disciplines, including wood, metal, plastics, casting, mold making, ceramics, and digital fabrication.
- Specialized knowledge in metalworking processes, particularly welding, foundry work, and forge techniques.
- A thorough understanding of health, safety, and COSHH regulations relevant to workshop environments.
The candidate should demonstrate a flexible and enthusiastic approach to working with students in hands-on, experimental settings, along with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels. A commitment to teamwork, planning, prioritizing, and organizing workloads to meet objectives is essential.
Furthermore, the candidate should embrace inclusivity, diversity, and cultural awareness in their actions and decision-making processes, ensuring a responsive and supportive service.
