Veterinary Surgeon with Dental Focus

Location: Calder Vets Dewsbury Hospital
Hours: Full-time - 4-days a week plus one in four Saturdays.
We are seeking a veterinary surgeon with a strong dental bias to join our team at our 24 hour Tier III accredited hospital in Dewsbury. The ideal candidate would have, or be studying towards, a dental certification, although consideration would be given to someone with strong experience in the field. Our dental suite is well-equipped with all the necessary kit for performing high-level first-opinion procedures alongside more advanced surgeries. You would be working alongside a specialized dental nurse and an experienced and driven RVN team.
The rota would be four days a week plus one-in-four Saturdays. Your days at the hospital would be spent performing dentistry and helping out with other first-opinion procedures if needed, followed by evening consultations. There is no OOH commitment as the site runs a separate night team. Bank holidays are usually one per year and allocated primarily on a voluntary basis with TOIL.
Our clinic has been awarded outstanding in all categories in the Practice Standards Award Scheme. We offer a range of mid-tier surgeries on site and have a brand new CT scanner, top-spec ultrasonography, and radiography. The clinic is town-centre based and offers good public transport options, but is also surrounded by some lovely countryside and good links to cities such as Leeds and Wakefield for anyone considering relocation.

Our Dewsbury hospital is purpose-built and includes the following:
- Attractive building with good client parking and large client bases
- Large waiting room with separate cat/dog areas
- Air-conditioned consulting rooms
- 15-minute consults minimum
- Fully equipped theatres
- Xray, good quality ultrasound scanner, and CT on site. Visiting MRI
- Dental area with X-ray
- Middle-tier referrals seen on site – dermatology, surgery, and ophthalmology
