Cover Supervisor

SENDirect is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a special educational needs school in Colchester. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them stay engaged in their learning during teacher absences.
The successful candidate will ensure that lesson plans are followed, maintain a positive classroom environment, and provide support to students aged 10-16. While previous experience working with SEMH students is preferred, the key qualities we seek are confidence, resilience, and a desire to make a difference.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise students in the absence of the regular class teacher, ensuring they remain engaged in their learning.
- Follow lesson plans and help students stay on track with their work.
- Promote a positive and focused learning environment for students aged 10-16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Encourage participation in both classroom and outdoor learning activities.
- Support students' social, emotional, and mental well-being through positive interactions.
- Manage classroom behaviour in a calm and supportive manner.
- Work flexibly across different subjects and adapt to the varying needs of students.
- Previous experience working with children or young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is preferred.
- Confidence and enthusiasm for working with students in a classroom setting.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
- A passion for outdoor activities and a willingness to engage in the school's outdoor learning programs.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage students and collaborate with staff.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work across different subjects and support various needs.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
