Job Title: Senior Principal Consultant

Job Summary:

The Skills Coalition is seeking a highly experienced Senior Principal Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of nature sustainability for the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project delivery: Manage and deliver complex projects, ensuring timely completion, and high-quality results.
  • Strategy and business development: Develop innovative proposals, expand the business through networking, and build relationships with global business forums, academia, and NGOs.
  • Innovation and communication: Publicly speak on behalf of The Skills Coalition, write and review materials for scientific and business press, and work with senior staff to develop approaches and tools for assessing and mitigating biodiversity impacts.
  • Team management: Lead junior consultants, mentor, and support their professional development.

Requirements:

  • At least ten years' experience in development projects with a focus on mining.
  • Experience in applying lender requirements, particularly International Finance Corporation's Performance Standard 6, to development projects in emerging economies.
  • Solid consultancy experience, managing and delivering multiple complex projects.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, with sufficient GIS skills to design and evaluate analyses.
  • Willingness to travel globally and work in challenging environments.
  • Good track record of business development and client relationship management.
  • A good Honours degree in a relevant discipline.

Desirable Attributes:

  • A background as a field conservation specialist, understanding how to make conservation theory work in practice with communities and governments.
  • Experience of reviewing work and providing QAQC.
  • Proven ability to work in French or Spanish.
  • Experience of supervising or managing individuals and/or small teams.
  • A postgraduate qualification or a PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience working in Africa, Latin America, or Asia.
