Main Purpose of the Position

To execute service and repair tasks on customer equipment at their premises in a safe, professional, and cost-effective manner, maintaining accurate documentation of all work performed in accordance with Health and Safety and Quality procedures.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • To identify, diagnose, and rectify faults on customer forklifts as necessary, encompassing all related tasks, and procure the required spare parts in an efficient manner.
  • To provide reliable information to customers regarding maintenance, consultation on repairs, and offer advice on equipment usage.
  • To adhere to all company Health and Safety, Environmental, and site policies, procedures, and practices, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • To ensure accurate completion of automated system and paperwork (job sheets, timesheets, purchase requisitions, and parts paperwork) /IT systems within the stipulated timeframe and with relevant order numbers.
  • To liaise with first-line management for authorization of parts and process order numbers accordingly.
  • To collaborate with the Service Controller, customer, and Service Manager to ensure sharing of information regarding individual forklifts and equipment, including damage or requests for a replacement truck in the event of a long repair, as well as keeping all relevant parties updated on work progress.
  • To propose improvements for the implementation of work activities and work conditions.
  • To ensure all allocated work is completed and notify the Manager or Controller if in arrears.
  • To ensure adherence to specified Engineering Standards, Safe Working Practices, and all Company Policies and Procedures at all times.
  • To ensure accuracy of all stock levels/movement records.
  • To obtain hour meter readings/site information as requested by Controllers and at every visit.
  • To ensure all company-issued equipment and tooling (including vans, laptops, printers, etc.) is kept in a satisfactory, clean, and safe condition and report any failures.
  • To work closely with the sales & STR team and refer leads.
  • To work to strict planned schedules and deadlines.
  • To take responsibility for van weight and safe/roadworthy condition before use.
  • To work to and understand KPIs relating to service, admin, and stock.
  • To take on any reasonable additional duties as required by the Manager to ensure the smooth running of the department.
  • To actively participate in training days, work meetings, and other meetings for the exchange of information.
  • Any other duties arising from the above responsibilities.

Required Functional Competencies/Experience/Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent associated occupation.
  • Electrical, hydraulic, and/or mechanical competencies.

  • Sound IT knowledge/skills, e.g., word, Excel, email.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
