Job Title: Specialist Study Skills Tutor

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialist Study Skills Tutor to join our team at Talking Minds Limited. As a Specialist Study Skills Tutor, you will work closely with students who have Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) and Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) to provide tailored support and guidance to help them achieve academic success and independence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized study skills support plans to enhance students' learning and academic performance.
  • Collaborate with students to build confidence and independence in their academic journey, focusing on areas such as time management, organization, note-taking, research, and exam preparation.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of support provided, adhering to Disabled Students' Allowances (DSA) guidelines.
  • Conduct regular reviews to assess progress and adapt support strategies as required.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on best practices for supporting students with SpLD and ASC.
Requirements:
  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as PATOSS, BDA, Dyslexia Guild, or ADSHE.
  • A degree in a relevant field and comprehensive training in adult autism.
  • Relevant teaching qualifications are highly desirable, including but not limited to a PGCE, DTTLS, or QTS.
  • Experience working with students in higher education or supporting neurodiverse individuals is essential.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Empathetic and patient, with a commitment to supporting neurodiverse students to reach their potential.
