Gingerbread Mews is a reputable charity-run day nursery catering to children aged 6 weeks to 8 years. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our team and ensure each child reaches their full potential.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Nursery Manager/Head of Pre-School to undertake effective day-to-day management of the nursery. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all children receive the highest standards of care and education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overall responsibility for the nursery and staff, ensuring they perform to the highest standards.
  • Safeguarding children is a top priority, and the successful candidate will be the Safeguarding lead.
  • Speak up against practices that don't support safeguarding or our Core Values.
  • Ensure ratio and requirements are met.
  • Maintain a clean and welcoming setting with well-kept educational resources.
  • Monitor the nursery's planning, observation, and assessment procedure.
  • Appraise and manage the team, keeping them motivated while addressing any issues.
  • Undertake and lead on additional responsibilities such as SENCO, training coordinator, safeguarding Officer, etc.
  • Plan and organize fundraising events throughout the year.
  • Hold and lead staff meetings.
  • Be able to step in to cover staff sickness/holidays, including carrying out observations and relevant paperwork.

Requirements
  • Nursery experience: 3 years (preferred).
  • Childcare experience: 3 years (preferred).
  • Management experience: 1 year (preferred).
