The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking to recruit a Sanitation Specialist, available for both part-time and full-time roles, to deliver essential non-clinical assistance to the surgical team. This role involves executing tasks as directed by Team Leaders and Theatre Practitioners.

Candidates should possess GCSE qualifications in English and Maths (or equivalent) and have prior experience in a service-oriented environment, particularly in cleaning operations and the use of cleaning agents and equipment.

The primary focus of this position is to help maintain a secure and hygienic workspace for both patients and staff, ensuring that inventory and supplies are adequately stocked within the department. Proficiency in IT, particularly with Microsoft applications such as Word, Outlook, and Excel, is crucial.

The successful candidate will participate in necessary meetings, providing relevant feedback, taking action within their scope, and collaborating with senior staff to facilitate effective delegation. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the efficient operation of the Theatre department by fostering a clean and healthy environment.
  • Share accountability for maintaining sufficient supplies of consumables to meet service demands and ensure all departmental equipment is clean and functioning properly.
  • Assist in the safe transfer of patients and equipment.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSE grades 9 - 4 or A - C in Maths and English.

Required Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of hospital environments and infection control protocols.
  • Familiarity with Oracle ordering systems.
