Position Overview
This is a unique opportunity to join our vibrant Urology team in a pivotal administrative role.
As a key member of our department, you will independently assist the clinical nurse specialist team, playing an essential part in organizing assessments for patients suspected of having cancer.
Your role will involve a variety of critical tasks, such as:
- Managing systems for processing results and ensuring effective communication with patients.
- Scheduling appointments and tracking clinical outcomes.
- Working closely with the Urology CNS team to enhance patient care and meet performance targets.
Main Responsibilities
This position encompasses a broad range of administrative duties, including:
- Coordinating necessary assessments and appointments for patient pathways.
- Ensuring timely receipt of eGFR and PSA results to avoid delays.
- Facilitating transfers of care between service teams.
- Directing patients to appropriate services for higher-level decisions.
- Triage incoming patient inquiries, following established protocols.
- Monitoring and reporting on service performance, including data entry into relevant databases.
- Conducting pre-arranged calls to patients under professional guidance.
- Participating in clinical reviews to address pathway issues and ensuring actions are taken.
- Supporting the CNS team with administrative tasks to facilitate timely diagnoses.
- Overseeing post-treatment follow-up to prevent delays.
- Arranging patient appointments as required.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- GCSE level English Language at Grade A - C (or equivalent).
- RSA II typing or equivalent experience.
- Experience in audio typing or relevant recent experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Outlook.
- Previous secretarial or office experience.
- Experience working with the public and/or professionals.
- Understanding of customer care and confidentiality.
Desirable:
- NVQ II or III in Business Administration.
- Experience within the NHS and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Experience using Hospital systems.
