Position Overview

This role presents a unique opportunity for a Technical Solutions Architect with a background in integrated workplace management systems or related fields such as facilities management. You will play a crucial role in shaping the technical framework that supports the operational needs of Parliament.

As a member of the Parliamentary Digital Service, your primary responsibilities will include the architectural design and implementation of the Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS). You will conduct thorough analyses of technical requests and challenges, translating these into detailed technical designs that align with organizational objectives. Additionally, you will offer architectural guidance and support for various digital solutions within the Workplace Management and Built Environment sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership within the service team, ensuring that the direction and execution of the IWMS adhere to established standards, reference architectures, and strategic roadmaps while collaborating with architectural peers as needed.
  • Work alongside Enterprise Architects to comprehend Parliament's target architecture, ensuring that the deployment of workplace management digital capabilities is in harmony with overarching digital and technology strategies.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, collaborating with relevant teams to comply with appropriate technical governance processes and to implement organizational standards and methodologies.
  • Identify stakeholder needs and articulate how these translate into technical solutions, advising on necessary business changes when technical limitations arise.
  • Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders, employing clear and accessible language to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a relevant technical role, showcasing a solid understanding of various architectures, technologies, and programming languages.
  • Familiarity with reference architectures and the application of technology policies and technical standards, including experience in adhering to clear technical governance processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with stakeholders at both strategic and operational levels, effectively communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences while promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Experience in implementing digital solutions that drive business transformation, with a capacity for innovation and creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to make informed decisions based on evidence, considering risk and complexity, and understanding the implications of the organizational context.
  • Experience in supporting workplace management systems, including IWMS or facilities management solutions.
  • Eligibility to obtain security clearance, with the right to work in the UK.
