Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage key projects within the Self Care Management & Information Service, providing flexible, high-quality project management and service development.
  • Define objectives, support activities, monitor progress, and offer specialist expertise.
  • Lead specific projects, ensuring deliverables are effectively managed and aligned with objectives.
  • Develop and secure approval for project documentation and plans, presenting them to relevant teams and governance.
  • Establish and maintain project control, encompassing documentation, scheduling, milestone setting, compliance with KPIs, and liaising with colleagues to deliver objectives.
  • Produce tailored reports for various groups and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project documentation and initiating corrective actions as needed.
  • Identify and manage project interdependencies, documenting and sharing best practices and lessons learned.
  • Utilise methodologies like PRINCE2, MSP, IHI, PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma, and QSIR.
  • Develop policies and procedures, determining local approaches in the absence of national direction to ensure a borough-wide partnership.

Requirements

  • Experience of delivering projects in complex and challenging environments.
  • Ability to work independently, make informed decisions, and achieve objectives while working with continually changing demands and priorities.
  • Experience of researching and utilising best practice to inform work.
  • Experience of formulating strategies, policies, and business cases in relation to performance, service development, and training.
  • Experience of monitoring key performance indicators to meet local and national targets.
  • Knowledge of national priorities around long-term conditions/self-care management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of presenting complex and sensitive information to key stakeholders and large groups.
  • Experience of undertaking audits, surveys, questionnaires, consulting with service users, staff, and stakeholders, demonstrating involvement and learning from feedback.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team.
  • Experience of working within the NHS.

Person Specification

  • Education to degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Further specialist training and experience to postgraduate diploma level or qualification in Change Management or Project Management methodologies and principles.
  • Good basic education, demonstrating high levels of literacy and numeracy.

Skills

  • Broad understanding of NHS policy and context underpinning the drivers for service change.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders, patients, and carers to co-design and co-produce projects and service redesign.
  • Excellent motivational and negotiating skills to successfully manage resistance to change.
  • Proven service redesign skills and process mapping.
  • Proven project management planning skills, critical paths, management of interdependencies, risk, and issues management, benefits realisation, and progress reporting.
  • Good understanding of business planning process and of budget management.
  • Ability to use a range of software packages and the internet and advanced experience in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to manipulate data.
  • Excellent report writing and analytical skills.
