Position Overview
Your Role and Responsibilities:
AECOM is seeking a skilled Associate Director Water Scientist / Hydrologist to enhance our expanding Water Environment team. This multidisciplinary group includes experts in geomorphology, hydrology, hydro-ecology, water quality, and hydrogeology, comprising 45 surface water specialists and an additional 25 hydrogeologists. Our clientele spans both public and private sectors, engaging with organizations such as the Environment Agency, Natural England, and various water companies. We are also involved in significant projects, contributing to water environment assessments and environmental statements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering high-quality project outcomes.
- Applying specialized knowledge to address business challenges and mentoring team members.
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues while making independent decisions aligned with organizational goals.
- Setting objectives and ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints and deadlines.
- Identifying trends and opportunities within the industry.
- Demonstrating innovation to achieve technical and operational excellence.
- Conducting water quality assessments and hydrological studies.
- Utilizing various tools and software for project delivery.
- Managing projects, including client relations and technical documentation.
- Contributing to Nature-Based Solutions, such as wetland creation and river restoration initiatives.
Team Dynamics:
All members of the Water Environment team actively engage with clients and oversee commercial aspects of projects. Safety and environmental considerations are integral to our operations. As an experienced water scientist/hydrologist, you will provide leadership and training to peers and junior staff while maintaining close communication with clients.
Qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as geography, physical sciences, or engineering.
- Expertise in hydrological software and environmental modeling.
- Proficiency in GIS applications.
- Strong report writing skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Experience in technical project management from proposal development to execution.
