Health and Safety Director

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to lead our compliance, quality, risk, and health and safety services across our national screening programmes.

Main Duties of the Job- Develop, implement, and review specialist Health & Safety and clinical governance policies, ensuring compliance with statutory and legal requirements.
- Lead the quality agenda for Screening Services, setting clear outcomes and ensuring systems and processes meet required standards.
- Represent the Screening Division at the Public Health Wales Health and Safety Group, providing assurance to senior executives and embedding a culture of health and safety across the Screening Division.
- Develop and deliver Health and Safety training sessions tailored to managers and staff across the division.
We are a leading public health organization in Wales, driving improvements in population health and well-being, reducing health inequalities, improving healthcare outcomes, protecting the public, and supporting the development of health in all policies across Wales.
Person SpecificationQualifications and Knowledge
Essential
- NEBOSH qualified or recognised equivalent at diploma level; or equivalent level of skills and knowledge with a commitment to attaining the NEBOSH qualification.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Knowledge of risk management systems
- Knowledge and proven understanding of Duty of Quality and Duty of Candour
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable Risk/H&S/Governance management experience
- Experience of complex problem solving, analysis, and generating improvements and solutions
- Risk management experience
Skills and Attributes
Essential
- Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft software, such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Good communicator with colleagues even in challenging situations
- Understanding of clinical guidelines, process for review, and role of clinical guidelines in practice
- Ability to meet deadlines as well as managing frequent and unpredictable interruptions to deal with new incidents.
