About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Porter to join our team at Nuffield Health Haywards Heath Hospital. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Decorating and Minor Repairs: Carry out decorating and minor repairs to the building fabric to a high standard, ensuring a pleasant and functional environment for our patients and staff.
  • Maintenance and Support: Provide general maintenance and support within the facilities function and to other functions within the hospital, including garden and outdoor duties.
  • Waste Management: Collect and dispose of clinical waste in accordance with policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all.
  • Conference and Office Support: Set up conference rooms and assist in office moves, as requested, to ensure a seamless and efficient service.
  • Parking and Security: Carry out parking patrols, when necessary and as directed, and provide security support for the building and grounds as directed by line manager.
  • Stock Management: Deliver stock accurately and promptly to various departments around the hospital, and store stock correctly, following the correct procedure.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure any health and safety concerns are immediately reported to your manager, and comply with all relevant data protection, security and health and safety guidelines.
  • Fire Safety: Follow procedure as set out in the fire policy to support any fire evacuations, ensuring the safety of all patients and staff.

  • Communication Skills: Present a friendly, approachable, positive and professional image of the organisation, and communicate calmly, politely and tactfully with team members and customers at all times.
  • Problem-Solving: Take responsibility for all queries raised, and look for ways to improve customer service and the way tasks are done and resources used.
