Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Injection Moulding Technical Manager to join our team at Meridian Medical Limited. As a key member of our Moulding Production team, you will be responsible for planning and organizing the Class 8 cleanroom mould shop, ensuring the efficient operation of our 12 injection mould machines.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Team and Production Management
  • Manage day-to-day activities of the Moulding Production team, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve team performance, including training, health and safety, and employee engagement.
  • Liaise with other management members to address and correct production issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Work closely with the Managing Director to deliver and execute the Mouldshop improvement plan, driving business growth and efficiency.
  • Coach and mentor team members to increase efficiency and productivity, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Tooling Management
  • Oversee all mould tooling maintenance and servicing, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external tooling suppliers, negotiating quotes and managing orders.
  • Point of contact for new and existing customers regarding tooling enquiries, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Arrange quotations and manage suppliers for new tools and tooling repairs, ensuring timely delivery and minimal disruption.
Quality and Compliance
  • Support quality management initiatives, driving waste reduction and environmental sustainability targets.
  • Ensure the production areas maintain required certifications, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
  • Work closely with the group Health & Safety Manager to meet health and safety obligations, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
Project and Process Improvement
  • Develop and implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) strategies for new components and tooling, ensuring optimal production efficiency.
  • Implement lean techniques, such as 5S, to improve production processes and reduce waste.
  • Reduce and maintain low scrap levels in production, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure production dates and deadlines are met, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Customer Relations
  • Maintain good customer relationship management, handling customer inquiries professionally and promptly.
  • Travel to customer sites as required, providing expert advice and guidance.
Qualifications and Skills

We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications and skills:

  • Time served experience with Toolmaking, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in injection moulding tooling management and or Manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within an injection moulding company.
  • Proficient in lean techniques (5S).
  • Excellent knowledge of injection mould tooling, tool making, tooling suppliers, and the plastics industry.
  • Proficient in CAD software and project planning tools.
  • Good computer skills, including the ability to read and write CAD data, project planning, and email communication.
  • Strong customer relationship management and phone manner.
  • Full driving license and ability to travel to customer sites.
Training and Development

  • Product training in each of the production areas.
  • Opportunity to work alongside the existing Mouldshop Manager during their ramp down until their retirement.
