Position Overview:As a Fencing Instructor at Barracudas Activity Day Camps, you will play a vital role in creating a fun and safe environment for children to engage in fencing activities. Your responsibilities will include:
Working Hours:
08:30 – 17:00
Compensation:
Weekly salary ranging from £405.69 to £530.76, depending on age, experience, and qualifications.
Reporting Structure:
You will report to the Camp Senior Team, Area Manager, and Central Office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain fencing activity areas to ensure they are engaging and safe for participants.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures to provide a secure and enjoyable experience for all children.
- Conduct enjoyable introductory fencing sessions in accordance with Barracudas training standards.
- Utilize the Teambuilding manual to facilitate diverse and age-appropriate sessions.
- Deliver safety instructions and equipment demonstrations, ensuring compliance.
- Provide attentive supervision to meet the needs of children throughout the day, including during breaks and meals.
- Encourage full participation from all children in group activities.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to enhance session delivery.
- Complete necessary paperwork related to fencing sessions on a daily and weekly basis.
- Regularly inspect fencing equipment for safety and functionality.
- Take responsibility for the overall welfare and safeguarding of participants.
- Maintain a clean and organized site, ensuring all equipment is properly stored.
- Ensure the safe operation of all equipment used during sessions.
Qualifications:
- Complete a complimentary 1-day Fencing+ course affiliated with British Fencing prior to starting employment.
- Must be at least 18 years old at the commencement of the contract.
- Eligibility to work in the UK is required.
- Provide satisfactory professional or academic references.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, care, and organization, with strong communication skills and the ability to take initiative.
- Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or possess an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
- Participate in a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
- Complete annual online training.
- Attend an Induction Training Day prior to the first working season.
- Assist with the end-of-camp pack-up process.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations by following guidelines and demonstrating a proactive approach.
- Organize and deliver activities appropriate for the children in your care, within your qualifications and expertise.
- Encourage children to engage in new activities and follow the activity timetable.
- Maintain awareness of children's safety and whereabouts, fostering respectful communication.
- Adhere to camp systems, including registration and safety protocols, while supporting colleagues in these practices.
- Serve as a positive role model, promoting healthy lifestyles and hygiene practices.
- Report any Child Protection concerns to the Senior Team or designated personnel.
- Make reasonable accommodations for children with additional needs or medical conditions.
- Depending on staff availability, assist with Skills Builder sessions.
- Support swimming sessions as required, bringing appropriate swimwear.
- Be prepared to undertake various tasks as needed to meet the organization's objectives.
