We are seeking an experienced HSE Manager to join our QHSE team on a permanent basis. This is a key leadership role that will play a crucial part in promoting a positive HSE culture across site operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the Head of QHSE in developing short, medium, and long-term risk reduction strategies aligned with the company's commercial ambition, vision, and values.
- Identify and advise on the potential impact of new safety, health, and environment legislation, ensuring the company remains compliant.
- Promote safe behaviors and visible safety leadership across the organization at all levels.
- Lead the HSE team to ensure effective management systems, policies, and procedures are in place and understood by all.
- Provide support, training, and coaching to accelerate and transfer knowledge, enabling the right choices to be made.
- Champion accident/incident prevention and loss control programs that prioritize safety and environment protection.
- Report, investigate, and follow up on undesirable events, including unauthorized releases or noise and/or complaints.
- Ensure major accident hazard scenarios and associated critical controls are fully understood throughout the organization.
- Ensure process safety and risk reduction reviews are routinely carried out on all relevant activities.
- Ensure appropriate QHSE resources are provided to recognize and control potential HSE risks arising from the company's activities.
- Ensure the company maintains a trained and competent emergency response organization and arrangements to meet COMAH obligations.
- Take a lead role in developing and maintaining QHSE management systems to defined standards and ensure effective implementation.
- Ensure environmental and quality management systems comply with BS EN ISO 14001 and BS EN ISO 9001 requirements.
- Monitor compliance of key environmental, health, safety, and quality regulatory permit conditions and legislation requirements through suitable auditing and monitoring activities.
- Act as the focal point for external stakeholders, including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Environment Agency (EA).
- A science-based degree or equivalent and a postgraduate-level HSE qualification.
- Chartered membership of IOSH or equivalent.
- A clear understanding of management systems and their use in controlling and maintaining safe and effective operations.
- Ideal experience as an auditor and incident investigator.
- Extensive HSE leadership experience with a broad technical base and experience working in high-hazard/COMAH environments.
- Working knowledge of COMAH and experience liaising with regulators.
- Excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage, coach, and develop others across a range of disciplines.
- An enthusiasm to encourage change and challenge working methods in a constructive manner.
