Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solicitor or Barrister to join our Legal and Compliance Team at Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council. This role will involve managing a diverse caseload of contentious cases, including advocacy in Civil and Criminal Courts, as well as providing legal advice and assistance on a wide range of issues across all Council Directorates and Committees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a varied caseload of contentious cases, including advocacy in Civil and Criminal Courts
- Provide legal advice and assistance on a diverse range of issues across all Council Directorates and Committees
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve team objectives
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry developments
Requirements:
- Be a fully qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a current practising certificate
- Have litigation and court advocacy experience, preferably in a local government setting
- Have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to work in an agile environment
- Have a strong understanding of the Council's policies and procedures
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
