Job Overview

Astute People is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team as an Asset Optimization Specialist. This strategically important role comes with a competitive salary of £40,000- £55,000 dependant on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Technical Shift Manager, you will support the daily maintenance tasks across the recycling process plant, including working to planned preventative maintenance schedules and reacting effectively to breakdowns when needed.
  • Conduct thorough mechanical fault finding and root cause analysis on heavy machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with the team to optimize equipment efficiency, minimizing downtime and ensuring the plant runs at peak performance.
  • Deliver all work set to operational expectations and budgetary requirements, maintaining accurate maintenance records via the CMMS.
  • Work as part of a shift pattern, adapting to the needs of the site and contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a mechanical maintenance role within the waste management / recycling industry, or a similar heavy process site.
  • A good understanding of mechanical fault finding and the initiative to solve problems effectively.
  • A formal mechanical engineering qualification is beneficial, but not essential.
  • Experience using CMMS systems and LEAN principles is highly valued.
  • A flexible approach to work, with excellent communication and team working skills.
