We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Oncologist to join our dynamic team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. As a Consultant Medical Oncologist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality cancer care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive oncology services, collaborating with colleagues to develop and manage site-specialized cancer services.
- Participate in the out-of-hours service and provide acute oncology care.
- Supervise and manage junior medical staff, ensuring their professional development and well-being.
- Contribute to teaching, examination, and accreditation duties, as well as postgraduate and continuing education.
- Undertake clinical audit, continuing medical education, and contribute to the annual appraisal process.
- Work collaboratively with clinical teams and commissioners to deliver clinical and quality targets.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is a leading provider of acute hospital services, serving a population of around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and mid Wales. Our main service locations are the Princess Royal Hospital and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, which provide a wide range of acute hospital services, including accident & emergency, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical care, and critical care.
Requirements- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- FRCR (Clinical Oncology) or equivalent qualification for Medical Oncology.
- Higher research degree in a cancer-related subject.
- Evidence of postgraduate study in the specialty, with an appropriate postgraduate qualification.
- Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
- Previous experience in the management of one or more of the following sites: Upper GI, Urology, Colorectal, Acute Oncology.
- Ability to take full responsibility for clinical care of patients.
- Evidence of achievement of competencies in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice.
