Job Overview

Position Summary

At GE Renewable Energy Power and Aviation, we are dedicated to the design, production, and maintenance of advanced propeller systems for both military and civilian applications. Our operations are conducted from a cutting-edge facility in the UK.

In this position, you will join the New Product Introduction (NPI) team, providing essential support to meet the increasing demand for innovative propeller manufacturing systems. You will play a crucial role in developing the next generation of sustainable aviation technologies. As a valued member of the Manufacturing Engineering department, you will ensure that design intentions are effectively translated into our production systems.

Your focus will be on ensuring manufacturability throughout the product development cycle. You will engage in development and pilot production phases, offering feedback to the design team, assisting in issue resolution, and providing necessary documentation, tooling, and training to facilitate production in a pristine manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitating the transition of new products from design to mass production, acting as the primary liaison for the manufacturing team to guarantee that safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met.
  • Planning and executing project timelines, deliverables, and enablers to ensure adherence to manufacturing readiness milestones.
  • Collaborating with design engineers to ensure that manufacturing considerations are prioritized throughout the product development process.
  • Assisting procurement in developing technical specifications, project timelines, and standards for vendor selection and RFQ submissions.
  • Coordinating with third-party vendors and subcontractors to meet program specifications from design through to delivery and commissioning.
  • Generating build documentation, including bills of materials, work instructions, and training requirements to ensure a smooth transition to volume production.
  • Overseeing the installation, commissioning, and verification of new tooling and automation to achieve process capability and uptime targets.
  • Engaging with the production team to ensure their insights are incorporated into relevant discussions and they are informed of program developments.
  • Collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure the successful handover of new or modified facilities to the operations team.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, with substantial experience or equivalent knowledge in Technical Project/Program Management.
  • In-depth understanding of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process and project planning elements.
  • Experience leading projects in a manufacturing NPI environment.
  • Expertise in defining FMEAs and developing manufacturing quality operating systems.
  • Advanced experience in designing and implementing automated facilities to optimize asset utilization and reduce production costs.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders through logical reasoning.
  • Experience managing suppliers and contractors effectively.
  • Familiarity with health & safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Ability to work independently towards defined objectives.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with high-volume composite manufacturing and precision machined parts.
  • Project management certification.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and APQP.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, including 3D Catia and 2D AutoCAD.
  • Experience in regulated industries, preferably aviation.
  • Familiarity with 3D printing and rapid prototyping technologies.
  • Experience with condition-based monitoring and real-time data acquisition in manufacturing environments.
