The Building Control Team Manager will lead the delivery of a high-quality Building Control service, providing technical expertise and ensuring compliance with the Building Acts and Building Regulations. The role involves managing the day-to-day operations of the service, acting as the Council's principal advisor on building control matters, and representing the Council at appeals and public hearings.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the provision of an excellent building control service to applicants, landowners, residents, and other stakeholders.
- Manage the team's performance, ensuring key performance indicators and customer service standards are met.
- Provide expert support and advice to staff across the range of functions, including Fire Safety, CDM, and structural safety.
- Lead on and oversee the validity of complaints of danger arising from defective structures and instruct the Council's dangerous structures contractor.
- Develop and implement service improvement measures and opportunities to generate income for the service.
Requirements
- Extensive post-qualification experience in Building Control.
- Hold corporate membership of ABE, RICS (Building Control), Institution of Structural Engineers, or equivalent.
- Experience of effective management of staff and resources, implementing a performance-based approach.
- Ability to undertake high-level and complex negotiations with service users and other interested parties.
- Expert understanding of Fire Safety, CDM, or structural safety.
Contract
- Initial 3 to 6 month ongoing contract with the opportunity to extend.
- PAYE via Umbrella.
- Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
