Job Summary

Bilfinger is seeking a highly skilled Lead Automation Engineer to join our team in Chesterfield. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of automation solutions for various industries, including Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Food & Beverage, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Energy/Renewables, Data Centres, and Utilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of detailed design documentation, including PLC and SCADA systems.
  • Work closely with the project manager to ensure smooth project progress and adherence to the agreed project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of automation technologies, including Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, AVEVA, Ignition, and MQTT & IOT Systems.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and develop reusable modules through standardization and modularization of systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and support the development of the project quality plan.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of industry protocols, including OPC, IEC, Profinet, Modbus, and others.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, including C#,.NET, Python, JavaScript, CSS, and virtualized platforms such as VMware & ESXi.

Requirements

  • Chartered Engineer or working towards professional registration.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of automation solutions, including PLC and SCADA systems.
  • Strong understanding of automation technologies, including Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, AVEVA, Ignition, and MQTT & IOT Systems.
  • Experience with industrial protocols, including OPC, IEC, Profinet, Modbus, and others.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
