Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Site Manager to join our team at Hertfordshire County Council. As a key member of our Recycling Centre service team, you will play a vital role in supporting the site manager and ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Operations: Be responsible for the safe opening and closing of the site, ensuring that all necessary procedures are followed and that the site is secure.
- Documentation Management: Manage all documentation for the site, including paper forms and computerized records, in the site manager's absence.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to service users, ensuring that they are aware of the correct waste disposal procedures and are able to dispose of their waste correctly.
- Waste Management: Check permits for vans and trailers, inspect waste for certain types of waste, and ensure that waste streams are not mixed.
- Facilities Maintenance: Maintain a clean and tidy work environment, ensuring that all facilities are well-maintained and that the site is free from hazards.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve customer service and recycling rates, and implement changes as necessary.
- Training and Development: Participate in training and development opportunities, including first aid, fire marshal, manual handling, and plant operation.
About You:
We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record of delivering excellent customer service and a high level of work quality. You will have highly developed interpersonal skills, be able to remain calm under pressure, and work safely and follow procedures in all weather conditions.
Requirements:
- Proven experience of working in a similar role, with a focus on customer service and waste management.
- Ability to work under prolonged periods of sustained physical effort.
- Experience of managing a team of operatives.
- First aid and fire marshal certification.
- Ability to operate a JCB, with training provided.
