We are seeking a creative and motivated research scientist to join a Wellcome Trust Funded project focused on the molecular mechanisms governing the immune response to inflammation, cancer, and tissue injury, utilizing Drosophila as a model organism. The ultimate goal is to uncover innovative therapeutic approaches for treating inflammatory conditions.

Position Overview:

This is a three-year, full-time research position within the laboratory of Professor Will Wood at the University of Edinburgh. This role offers a distinctive opportunity to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team engaged in cross-species investigations of inflammation and innate immunity. The project employs advanced live imaging techniques to explore how efferocytosis influences the behavior and role of macrophages during health, injury, and infection. The successful candidate will manage the Drosophila components of this research while collaborating with mammalian-focused postdoctoral researchers to swiftly identify key, evolutionarily conserved genetic markers and mechanisms that regulate inflammation.

This position also accommodates part-time and hybrid working arrangements, including flexible hours and remote work options.
