Second Chef

This is a role for a qualified chef to work as a Second Chef in a care home operated by Barchester Healthcare. The job offers the opportunity to work with fresh seasonal ingredients, deliver high-quality hospitality standards, and have a better work-life balance compared to a traditional restaurant environment.
Main Duties- Assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome, and well-balanced menus for the residents.
- Work to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks typical of the industry.
- Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
- Assist the Head Chef in menu development.
- Work fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards.
- Help create a warm, efficient, and fun environment.
- Work within budget.
- Complete regular audits.
- Manage stock control.
- Assist in leading and motivating a team.

Person Specification- You should hold a City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification.
- You should have experience in helping lead and inspire a team.
- You should have a good understanding of nutrition.
- You should have experience of working with fresh seasonal food.
- You should have good knowledge of HACCP.
