Finance Director Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Finance Director to join our Senior Management Team and drive the financial performance of our business.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of delivering financial results and will be responsible for leading the finance department to ensure timely and accurate financial data is provided to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic financial leadership to optimise the company's financial performance and position.
  • Manage and lead the finance department to ensure financial data is accurate, timely and reliable.
  • Develop and implement financial systems and processes to support business growth and compliance.
  • Ensure robust cash management and forecasting to meet business requirements.
  • Support the development of financial policies and procedures to ensure sound financial management and control.
  • Ensure period financial information, budgeting and forecasting processes are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements are met and compliance is maintained.
  • Work with the CEO and Senior Management Team to ensure financial forecasting is accurate and transparent.
  • Contribute to the development of the company strategy and provide financial analysis and guidance.
  • Work with senior teams to grow the business and formulate strategies to future-proof the business.
  • Monitor external contracts and services with suppliers, partners and concessions to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide financial guidance and support during contract and pricing negotiations.
  • Ensure accounting policies comply with relevant standards and company policies are followed.
  • Establish credibility and manage strong working relationships with all areas of the business and external stakeholders.
Essential Skills:
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant with 10+ years post-qualification experience in a commercial environment.
  • Significant experience of working in a retail or FMCG business is an advantage.
  • Extensive executive level strategic and financial experience.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience of supporting excellent operational and trading performance.
  • Capacity for pushing through change and achieving desired results.
  • Strong leadership, relationship building and people management skills.
  • Excellent business and analytical skills with a high degree of intelligence and creativity.
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of stakeholders.
