Project Scheduler – Environmental Sector

Location: Annesley

Role Overview:

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Project Scheduler to become part of the team at Galliford Try.

The Project Scheduler position within the Framework is essential for supporting the business unit by ensuring that effective scheduling methodologies are applied to facilitate planning, monitoring, and reporting across a diverse array of projects with varying scales and complexities.

You will specifically focus on the AMP programme for Severn Trent or Welsh Water, where our responsibility is to deliver Sustainable Urban Drainage solutions within community areas.

Ideally, candidates will be located in or near the Annesley area and will have the chance to travel across multiple project sites in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the programme content and functionality adhere to Galliford Try's Planning Processes and Procedures.
  • Provide comprehensive life-cycle scheduling across various projects; including bids, pre-construction, and live projects.
  • Review documentation, specifications, and scopes, identifying contractual requirements and significant constraints.
  • Develop detailed bid schedules, method statements, and logistics proposals for inclusion in final submissions.
  • Create outline plans and methodologies during the bidding phase.
  • Conduct site visits to assess conditions and constraints to be considered when preparing tender schedules and method statements.
  • Produce detailed, fully integrated design, procurement, and construction stage Contract Programmes, which may also require full resource allocation and cost-loading.
  • Utilize Earned Value or similar techniques to illustrate performance.
  • Prepare progress data and generate relevant progress reports.
  • Identify alternative methodologies or sequences that enhance project completion timelines.
  • Collaborate with internal and external key stakeholders and third parties to establish optimal, compliant programmes.
  • Monitor and report on progress for pre-construction and live projects, anticipating potential delays and advising on mitigation strategies.
  • Develop Sectional Construction, Completion, and Mitigation Programmes at relevant project stages, while maintaining contract integrity as required.
  • Assist the business in claims and/or disputes.
  • Mentor and support junior team members as necessary.

Candidate Profile:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with project, design, and central office team members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks in a demanding setting.
  • Degree or HND in an engineering or project/construction management discipline, although relevant experience or related qualifications will be considered.
  • Proven experience in scheduling, progress measurement, performance reporting, and change management across all project phases from initial design through to construction and commissioning, gained with an engineering contractor.
  • Proficient IT skills, including expertise in Primavera P (essential), MS Excel, and Word.
