Job Title: Exercise Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to join West London NHS Trust and contribute to the development of a new service. The Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Service for Hounslow, Ealing, and Hammersmith & Fulham CAMHS is seeking a skilled professional to provide specialist DBT to young people aged 12 to 18 who present with persistent self-harm and suicidal behaviour.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist DBT to service users, including assessment and intervention for young people referred to the service.
  • Contribute to service evaluation, policy development, audit, evaluation, and research in the area of self-harm and emotional dysregulation.
  • Provide clinical supervision, teaching, and consultation as appropriate.
  • Manage own caseload and provide specialist DBT interventions for young people.
  • Responsible for the provision of skills training groups for young people and parents/carers.
  • Work in partnership with schools, social services departments, and local and national services to support integrated practice and service delivery.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will have post-graduate training in systemic family therapy as accredited by IFT or AFT, professional registration with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), and previous qualification in a relevant profession such as social work, nursing, teaching, psychology, or counselling.

Desirable criteria include training in CYP/IAPT, training in DBT, experience of other treatment approaches, and experience of research and audit.

The candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to apply analytical skills to multi-layered complex cases, and ability to formulate comprehensive assessments and offer effective treatment based on systemic principles.

The candidate will also have the ability to provide ongoing treatment in complex, often unstable, and frequently changing circumstances, and ability to liaise with and manage complex professional networks in relation to individuals and families.

The candidate will be able to withstand high levels of emotional distress and think clearly in emotionally charged situations, and manage and plan own workload of complex cases.

The candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to build constructive relationships with warmth and empathy, using good communication skills.

The candidate will be able to treat service users with respect and dignity at all times, and be enthusiastic, flexible, and confident in their approach to working.

The candidate will be able to prioritise own workload, and be willing and able to learn new skills and adapt to change.

The candidate will conduct themselves in a professional, courteous manner at all times.
