We are a world-leading research facility, home to the UK's synchrotron light source. Our work drives innovation in fields like vaccines and nanotechnology.
Our current upgrade, Diamond-II, will combine a new machine and beamlines with upgrades to optics, detectors, and computing, generating an even more brilliant light source.
About the I07 Beamline
The I07 beamline is designed for grazing incidence diffraction and scattering experiments. It uses an intense, high-energy x-ray beam to study solid and liquid surfaces and interfaces through techniques like surface x-ray diffraction and grazing incidence small angle x-ray scattering.
The beamline operates two end-stations, equipped with a UHV diffractometer and a double crystal deflector. We are seeking a skilled Beamline Scientist to join our team and contribute to the success of the I07 beamline.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct experiments and data analysis using the I07 beamline's advanced equipment.
- Develop and implement new experimental techniques and methods.
- Collaborate with researchers and scientists to advance our understanding of materials and surfaces.
- Contribute to the maintenance and upgrade of the I07 beamline's equipment and facilities.
Requirements
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong background in materials science, surface physics, or a related field. The successful candidate will have experience with x-ray beamlines, surface science techniques, and data analysis software.
