Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Macmillan support team as a Cancer Support Specialist. The successful candidate will work closely with the Macmillan Survivorship Manager to deliver high-quality information and support to patients and their carers throughout the cancer pathway.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess clients to ensure they receive the appropriate support.
  • Provide individualized information and support verbally, written, or by phone, in a format suitable to each client.
  • Coordinate and deliver support sessions provided by Macmillan.
  • Supervise and support Macmillan volunteers within the service, participating in their recruitment, induction, and training.
  • Maintain links with the community, including social prescribers, to ensure services are appropriate for users.

Person Specification
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with patients and carers.
  • Extended communication skills.

Desirable qualifications include an understanding of national cancer information and agenda, as well as the ability to plan and manage one's own workload.
