Role Overview:

As an Assembly Supervisor, you will report directly to the Production Manager within a manufacturing setting. Your primary responsibility will be overseeing the SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People) metrics for your designated area. You will manage a team of leaders who will assist you in achieving critical milestones and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to project timelines and key delivery targets.
  • Maintain compliance with allocated project budgets.
  • Oversee all technical documentation within the production environment.
  • Lead production meetings with essential internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the planning department to meet delivery objectives.
  • Assist the Production Manager in conducting interviews as necessary.
  • Promote a safe working environment through safety coaching, accident reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures.
  • Ensure strict adherence to 5S practices.
  • Uphold all local policies and procedures.
  • Foster a relationship with the team based on mutual trust; keep commitments and promises.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, providing clear instructions and ensuring team clarity on responsibilities.
  • Encourage team members to propose ideas and provide support, learning from both successes and failures.
  • Actively engage in and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate positive leadership during business challenges.
  • Support DFMA reviews to identify opportunities for optimizing design for manufacturing and assembly.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in manufacturing and assembly processes and techniques.
  • Understanding of production methods and processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and related design data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in IT applications such as Word, Excel, and MRP & Microsoft Projects.
  • Management skills with the ability to lead and communicate effectively with individuals or teams.
  • Capability to identify root causes of issues and propose viable solutions; recognize patterns in data.

Education:

  • City and Guilds Apprenticeship or equivalent in Vehicle Body Building, Mechanical Fitting, or a Manufacturing and Assembly Qualification.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification is preferred, though training may be provided.

Experience:

  • Background in vehicle body building, mechanical fitting, or a related trade.
  • Competence in planning methods and skills.
  • Experience in leading a team, including team leaders.

Additional Requirements:

  • This position requires full-time on-site presence.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.
  • Flexibility may be required to meet project demands.
