Role Overview:
As an Assembly Supervisor, you will report directly to the Production Manager within a manufacturing setting. Your primary responsibility will be overseeing the SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People) metrics for your designated area. You will manage a team of leaders who will assist you in achieving critical milestones and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to project timelines and key delivery targets.
- Maintain compliance with allocated project budgets.
- Oversee all technical documentation within the production environment.
- Lead production meetings with essential internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the planning department to meet delivery objectives.
- Assist the Production Manager in conducting interviews as necessary.
- Promote a safe working environment through safety coaching, accident reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures.
- Ensure strict adherence to 5S practices.
- Uphold all local policies and procedures.
- Foster a relationship with the team based on mutual trust; keep commitments and promises.
- Delegate tasks effectively, providing clear instructions and ensuring team clarity on responsibilities.
- Encourage team members to propose ideas and provide support, learning from both successes and failures.
- Actively engage in and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate positive leadership during business challenges.
- Support DFMA reviews to identify opportunities for optimizing design for manufacturing and assembly.
Qualifications:
- Expertise in manufacturing and assembly processes and techniques.
- Understanding of production methods and processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and related design data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in IT applications such as Word, Excel, and MRP & Microsoft Projects.
- Management skills with the ability to lead and communicate effectively with individuals or teams.
- Capability to identify root causes of issues and propose viable solutions; recognize patterns in data.
Education:
- City and Guilds Apprenticeship or equivalent in Vehicle Body Building, Mechanical Fitting, or a Manufacturing and Assembly Qualification.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification is preferred, though training may be provided.
Experience:
- Background in vehicle body building, mechanical fitting, or a related trade.
- Competence in planning methods and skills.
- Experience in leading a team, including team leaders.
Additional Requirements:
- This position requires full-time on-site presence.
- Occasional travel may be necessary.
- Flexibility may be required to meet project demands.
