Project Manager (Manufacturing) Job Description

Rubicon Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager (Manufacturing) to join our team on a permanent basis, located in Wolverhampton.

This role is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of manufacturing projects within a highly regulated environment. The successful candidate will ensure that manufacturing activities align with the overall project objectives, are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and monitor manufacturing project plans, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  2. Provide regular cost forecasts to the Senior Project Manager and Cost Engineer, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  3. Act as the primary communication hub between the customer, Senior Project Manager, and production facility, ensuring seamless collaboration.
  4. Coordinate manufacturing activities, allocating resources (materials, personnel, equipment) to meet project deadlines and ensure smooth operations.
  5. Produce project KPIs (e.g., schedule adherence, EVA, quality, cost, delivery), ensuring data-driven decision making.
  6. Ensure manufacturing projects maintain quality and efficiency, complying with company and industry standards.
  7. Facilitate activities to address issues related to project budget, design or design changes, profitability, quality, and timeliness of delivery.
Essential Skills:
  1. Deep understanding of production processes, tolerances, and work scopes.
  2. Knowledge of EVA (Earned Value Analysis) principles.
  3. Ability to create and read project plans in GANTT chart format.
  4. Thorough understanding of financial reporting and analysis.
  5. Capacity to create risk analysis and mitigation strategies.
  6. Natural leadership skills, with the ability to negotiate solutions and drive results.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Graduate-level education or equivalent experience.
  2. At least 3 years of significant project experience in a highly regulated business.
  3. 3 years of experience in Project Management in a manufacturing environment.
  4. Calm and methodical thinker, with attention to detail and task focus.
  5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
Desired Qualifications:
  1. 5 years of experience in a similar role within the manufacturing sector.
  2. Proficiency in Power BI and data analysis tools.
  3. Familiarity with MES (Manufacturing Execution System) or ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
