Job Title: Forensic Interviewer

The Forensic Interviewer is a critical member of our team at Bryn Mawr College, responsible for conducting thorough and child-friendly interviews of children affected by sexual and physical abuse. This role requires a unique blend of empathy, professionalism, and expertise in child development and abuse dynamics.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct non-leading interviews of children and adults with disabilities who have potentially been victimized or witnessed a crime or violence.
  2. Follow the National Child Advocacy Center's (NCAC) protocol for interviewing children who are suspected victims of child abuse (sexual or physical) and witnesses of abuse or violence.
  3. Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including law enforcement, case workers, prosecutors, medical, and mental health professionals, to ensure a comprehensive approach to child abuse cases.
  4. Participate in peer review meetings and national journal clubs to stay up-to-date on best practices and research in forensic interviewing and child advocacy.
  5. Develop and deliver training programs on mandated reporting, child abuse, and child advocacy center services.
  6. Provide orientation and support to new team members on the team approach to investigating or intervening in child abuse.
  7. Ensure that multidisciplinary team members understand the importance and role of all team members, including mental health and medical professionals.
  8. Support the general day-to-day activities of the Children's Advocacy Center and promote the programs offered through Bryn Mawr College.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years' experience in a field related to child abuse and family violence.
  2. Knowledge of child abuse and family violence, as well as PC literacy and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and database functions.
  3. Preferred training in nationally approved child sexual abuse interview models.
  4. Able to travel overnight for conference and training requirements.
  5. Valid driver's license or ability to commute to various locations.
  6. Successful completion of background checks, including child abuse history, criminal history, and FBI clearances, with no criminal history.
Working Conditions and Schedules:

Interacting with: co-workers, MDT members, clients, community members.

Office machinery usage: computers.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY:

Employees are responsible for compliance with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, risk assessment, and risk control.

Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries, and property damage at the workplace.
