About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Catering Assistant to join our team at Hexham General Hospital. As a Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety in our kitchen and dining areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, check, and store food and supplies in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

• Prepare and serve food to patients, visitors, and staff in a safe and efficient manner.

• Operate the central dish wash machine and maintain the cleanliness of equipment and areas within the Catering Department.

• Assist with meal preparation, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.

• Maintain accurate records of food inventory, supplies, and equipment.

Requirements

• Basic Food Hygiene and/or Level 1 Food Safety Certificate (must be achieved within 6 months of start date)

• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)

• NVQ Level 2 (desirable)

• Flexibility in work pattern and ability to work at short notice to cover staff absence.
