Digital Waffle is seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our growing team
As a key member of the Data and Analytics Team, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organization to design, build, and maintain robust data repositories. You'll play a vital role in ensuring the stability and reliability of our reporting solutions while contributing to the development of our data hub, storage, and integration environments.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Driving best practices for our Azure Data Warehouse, encompassing payload design, logical data modeling, implementation, metadata management, and testing standards.
- Proactively optimizing the cost of our Data Warehouse by identifying opportunities to refactor batch jobs and enhance efficiency.
- Supporting the creation of robust data models that power internal business intelligence, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance needs.
- Ensuring the operational functionality, availability, security, backup/recovery, and performance of our data technologies.
- Managing solutions across distributed data centers and platforms.
- Maintaining comprehensive documentation and knowledge bases to support team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Escalating application issues, documenting them thoroughly, and following up until resolution.
- Streamlining integration toolsets to enhance data flow and processing efficiency.
We are looking for someone with:
- Proven experience in data warehousing, big data, and ETL projects, coupled with a passion for data management.
- Strong SQL skills and a deep understanding of relational database concepts.
- Experience addressing diverse data warehouse challenges, including regulatory reporting, business intelligence, financial reporting, and machine learning support.
- A commitment to building reliable and controlled datasets that meet stringent quality standards.
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement, identifying opportunities for optimization and process enhancement.
- Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL database technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Bricks and Azure Data Factory.
- In-depth knowledge of data management principles, including permissions, recovery, security, and monitoring.
